In 2017, The Westerlies traveled to the historic Rivertown district of Kenner, LA with Chamber Music America for the Sound Places program, combining chamber music and placemaking in partnership with the Louisiana Division of the Arts (LDOA) and Project for Public Spaces (PPS), with grant support from the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA).
In the course of our yearlong residency we met so many wonderful people that we were inspired to start recording interviews along the way, asking local and longtime residents for their stories and their vision for Rivertown. These conversations became episodes, scored with original music by members of our ensemble. We humbly present them to the City of Kenner as a soundtrack to the future of Rivertown.
